XVI. Horizons in Molecular Biology and Genetics Conference
The Bilkent Genetics Society proudly organized the sixteenth edition of its annual conference, Horizons in Molecular Biology and Genetics, held on April 18–19, 2026, at Bilkent University. This long-standing event aims to bring together distinguished researchers from diverse fields within molecular biology and genetics, creating a dynamic platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge and ideas.
The conference was designed to broaden the academic and professional horizons of its audience, primarily consisting of undergraduate and graduate students in Medicine, Biology, and Molecular Biology and Genetics from leading universities across Türkiye. By hosting speakers actively engaged in cutting-edge research, the event provided participants with the opportunity to directly learn from experts about recent developments, emerging methodologies, and current challenges in the field.
This year’s conference featured valuable contributions from Assoc. Prof. Nihal Terzi Çizmecioğlu, Prof. Dr. Yusuf Çetin Kocaefe, Asst. Prof. Muzaffer Arıkan, Prof. Dr. Ceren Sucularlı, Asst. Prof. Bahar Değirmenci Uzun, Assoc. Prof. Baran Erman, Prof. Dr. Yunus Kasım Terzi, and Junior Prof. İlke Şen. Through their presentations, participants had the opportunity to closely follow ongoing research and gain insight into a wide range of topics, including embryonic stem cell lineage commitment, microbiome analysis through omics approaches, gene and cell therapy challenges, biomarker discovery in cancer, tissue remodeling, genetic mechanisms of immunity, and molecular regulators of age-related diseases.
Each session included a Q&A segment, allowing attendees to actively engage with the speakers, ask questions, and discuss the presented research in greater depth. This interactive format created a stimulating academic environment and encouraged direct communication between students and researchers.
By fostering scientific curiosity and interdisciplinary dialogue, the XVI. Horizons Conference once again succeeded in inspiring its audience and strengthening the connection between students and the scientific community.
